SOCIAL INTERACTION

The Social Pillar of Hermanos Unidos is composed of two chief elements. We have an Internal Social Chair and an External Social Chair. Coming to college for the first time can be overwhelming because making new friends is not an easy thing to do. Being social by getting out there and exploring new things is vital to the college experience. For this reason, Hermanos Unidos' Social Pillar is very important. One of the requirements for active membership is to complete 10 social hours. The Social Pillar is composed of two key parts, Internal and External Social. The Internal Social aspect is based within Hermanos Unidos, it aspires to create a sense of Famila and Hermandad (brotherhood) with the members of the organization.

Hermandad is very important because it creates the bond of family, which in turn gives us the genuine feeling of a Home away from Home. Hermandad is reached through active social events amoungst the Hermanos such as a diversity of sports, Basketball, Soccer, Football, Dodge ball, and Softball. Thanxmas, which is our own sort of gift exchanging event and our way of celebrating the Holidays with our Hermanos here on campus. And our General Body Retreat, which is one of the most important ways in which we bond as friends, but most importantly Hermanos.

These are only some of the Internal Social activities that are used through the year, but always moving forward in order to strengthen our Hermandad. The Social Pillar is fundamental to the existence of the organization. Through the many opportunities provided by social interactions with outside organizations from both on campus and off, we expand our networking capabilities. During these events, we build never-ending friendships that will produce wonderful networking opportunities for the future.
